Why don't you...
LEARN THE ROPES BEFORE GOING BEYOND THEM
If you’re considering venturing out of bounds, proper education is an essential tool for exploring untamed backcountry terrain. For those hearing the call of distant mountains, Whistler Blackcomb’s free half-day, introductory-level avalanche awareness courses are a great place to start training.
Hosted by WB’s ski patrol team, the tours provide key information about safe travel, terrain evaluation, avalanche phenomenon, control measures, safety equipment and rescue techniques. Avalanche awareness tours are held daily at 12:30 pm, and take approximately 2.5 hours. Tours begin at the avalanche hut at the top of Solar Coaster Express chairlift on Blackcomb Mountain.

If you’re looking to fill your belly and thrill your senses, Canadian Wilderness Adventures’ Yukon Breakfast Tour gives you the chance to pilot (or share) a snowmobile through the backcountry terrain of the scenic Callaghan Valley and enjoy a hearty full breakfast.
On the four-hour tour, groups travel to a rustic cabin on Sproatt Mountain where a Yukon skillet-style breakfast prepared on an old-fashioned wood stove awaits. Your feast includes pancakes with authentic maple syrup, Canadian back bacon, Yukon Gold potatoes, scrambled eggs, and sautéed onions and bell peppers.
Mountainous appetite satiated, guests can “play” on their sleds in alpine zones or on the frozen lake before cruising back down the mountain.
TRACK YOUR ACHIEVEMENTS WITH THE WB+ APP
Do you like knowing who the most dedicated skier or rider in your group is? If you have a smartphone and a lift ticket you can easily find out with the WB+ app. This new app tracks your on-hill movements so you can compare everyone’s stats and settle the score!
Using RFID technology, the WB+ app tracks the number of days skied, what lifts were ridden and total vertical metres/feet covered. Users can set goals and earn badges rated green to black, for various on-hill accomplishments, create a group and challenge each other or check the overall leaderboard to see how you stack up against everyone else.
The WB+ app is free to download from whistlerblackcomb.com.
